The way points of this bicycle route:
Note the Cathedral of Learning
Restored by the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy in 2005-2006
Note the Schenley Park Visitor Center, restored by the Parks Conservancy in 2001-2002
Watch out for errant golf balls.
Forbes and Murray Avenues compose a major business district
There are a number of stop signs on Beechwood Boulevard in this stretch that make it hard to build up all the speed you'd want.
Ride past the old Frick Park Environmental Center on your right, destroyed in a 2002 fire.
Stay on the main trail here; don't make any turns until you look down to the right and see Forbes Avenue.
When the trail splits here, take the right branch down towards Forbes Avenue.
Ride along the sidewalk or carefully enter Forbes Avenue, and prepare for a left turn.
Get in low gear while on Rosemary Road, since Undercliff Road here is very steep uphill.
This is the home of the Frick Park Lawn Bowling Club, one of the few lawn bowling groups in the country.
I always like to ride around the traffic circle here at least one full time (i.e., usually one and a half loops to just go straight).
As on Beechwood Boulevard, stop signs make it hard to get up a full head of steam on this stretch here.
