The way points of this bicycle route:
This is actually my commuting route to work. Although I thought starting and finishing from a landmark would be a good idea in case you'd like to follow the route. Also it allows you to train it back if you get to worn out.
watch for cars turning across you path
quite a tiring climb up rose hill past the golf club, though it's not to steep.
A nice slight descent for a while
stepper rise up to Letchworth gate roundabout. My advise is get out the saddle and keep the momentem going. It's very short so it'll carry you over.
There can be allot of traffic coming in from Baldock and A1 here so watch out cars don't always indicate
A very small climb then a nice fast decent to Baldock High street. Letchworth leasure centre is on the right.
Go straight over and then get in the right hand lane to go straight at the crossroads ahead
go streight up the hill, it flattens out quickly.
turn right
It's pretty flat till this point. This hill isn't to bad though it can be tiring. Good news is there's a fest descent the other side.
This is a steeper one and gets gradually steeper as you get to the top.
This is a fast decent but has a sharp right turn at the bottom so start to slow down early.
Nice climb, you'll need to get out the saddle for the corner near the top.
A nice rest, you'll need it for the next bit. left at the T-junction at the bottom.
Nastie hill here, head down and dig in.
nice flat section through the village green
You'll see the church from here
small climb and fast decent
Watch your speed on this one, the turning isn't that far from the top and it's a sharp corner
keep going
This bits fun. Mind for tractors
Short climb coming up to Kelshall then flatish
turn right
Turn right then fast decent that gradually flattens out
I've managed 40mph down this hill but be careful there are small amounts of shingle on the road half way down, from the car park also mind dog walkers and their cars and the T-junction at the bottom
turn right. This is quite a fast road for traffic but the lane is big so it's not a problem
Cars use this roundabout to follow the one way system and double back on themselves so mind out.
turn left down the one way before the traffic lights.
streight over the mini roundabout and carry on. there is a cycle lane along some of this.
