The way points of this bicycle route:
Go West along King Street
Turn Left into Bridge Street down to the old Wye Bridge
Just over the bridge turn Right at the toucan onto the riverside path
Pass Asda on your left and turn Left under the next bridge up the ramp to the former railway line for traffic free walking and cycling ...
Look out for Left turn to Fromes Avenue as path begins to gently climb
Turn Right at T junction into Stanberrow Road
Turn Left then immediately Right into Laysters Avenue
Turn Left into Marlbrook Road
Right turn at the barriers to the main Hereford - Ross trunk road. The pavement on western side is hardly used by pedestrians and may be followed to just over the rail bridge at the top of the hill
Turn right into Grafton Lane
Avoid A49 by turning Right to Callow
Turn Left at T junction
As main road turns left carry Straight On towards Monkhall & Dewsall
You are now on Duchy of Cornwall land. They have licensed access to Sustrans across their land to avoid a busy stretch of the B4348. Please take care. Road bears Right and becomes a track just past the estate office
Look out for a track turning Right toward the Rhydd (Straight on is a dead end)
Take care as the B4348 Hay - Ross road is fairly fast for a country lane
Take care when leaving the B4348 - turn Right on the bend signed Kilpeck
Turn Right toward Kilpeck
At give way crossroads go Straight on toward Kilpeck Church
Celtic church & Ancient Castle ruins http://www.herefordwebpages.co.uk/kilpeck.shtml
Take Right toward Orcop and Garway Hill. Red Lion pub now sadly closed.
Follow road round to the Right
Follow road round to the Left to Orcop & Garway Hill
At T junction turn Left toward Orcop & Garway Hill
Look out for Right turn to Kentchurch (if you reach Bagwyllidiart you've gone too far)
For Kentchurch & Abergavenny turn Right. Turn Left for Garway & Skenfrith spur (see later)
Bridge Inn (01981 240408) is Straight ahead or turn left over the bridge to continue on NCN46 to Abergavenny
Turn Left for Hereford, Follow road round to the Right for Garway & Skenfrith
Straigh on is the Garway Moon pub (01600 750270). Turn Right for Skenfrith
At this unsigned junction bear Right to Skenfrith
Formerly the A40 Ross-Abergavenny road, now much quieter. Turn Right toward Skenfrith
Skenfrith Castle (AM - www.castlewales.com/sknfrith.html) & the Bell (01600 750235) are just over the bridge
