The way points of this bicycle route:
First section goes through back streets to get from Camberwell Rd to Tooronga Rd
Tooronga Rd is mostly downhill and there is a bike lane. The end closest to Toorak Rd gets busy in the morning with school traffic
The railway crossing can be quite a busy intersection so be careful
Turn left into Malvern Rd
The traffic can bank up quite a bit here in the mornings. The centre lane is actually the lane for going straight ahead but be careful moving into the centre lane.
There's a bit of a hill up to high street but it comes after a downhill section so just make sure you pick up lots of speed on the downhill
This intersection is tricky and busy. You need to be in the right hand lane at the Waverley Rd intersection so that you are then in the right hand turning lane to turn into Belgrave Rd.
Belgrave Rd is uphill to Princes Hwy. It's not particularly steep but it is a longish incline.
Pick up speed going downhill to make the uphill section to Poath Rd easier.
Turn right into the slip Rd that goes beside Warrigul Rd. The road veers around to the left under Warrigul Rd and towards Oakleigh Station
Be careful of the buses here. Go through the roundabout, down the road towards Oakleigh Shopping Centre carpark and then turn right into the Station carpark
At the end of the carpark you will see a little path into the bike track that goes alongside the railway line
Follow the railway line path all the way to Huntingdale Station
Turn left into the station carpark and out onto Huntingdale Rd
Turn onto North Rd
There is a bike lane in the centre median strip that can be used if North Road is busy. However, North Road also has a dedicated bus lane which provides some protection for bikes from the traffic. It can be a bit scary when a bus goes past though.
This is a bit uphill
Steep but short hill up to Monash University
