The way points of this bicycle route:

Hopkins

Start Point - Depot Coffe House Additional Parking available at the Park and Ride at 5th & Excelsior just West of this location. Proceed East on Paved Trail.

Cross Excelsior Blvd from Paved Trail to Paved Trail

Cross Blake at Street grade

Louisiana is a grade seperated crossing (bridge)

Woodale is a at grade crossing with Cross Traffic. (busy)

Trail passes under Hwy 100

At grade crossing.

Minneapolis

Kennilworth Trail Cutoff DON"T TAKE IT Stay on the Midtown Greenway

Begin 29th Street Greenway. Greenway is one level below street grade for much of it's distance. A limited access bike freeway.

A new bike/ped bridge is currently under construction that will take riders from this point to the other side of Hiwatha Ave. Scheduled to be complete in the fall of 2007.

Turn left on the bike trail and ride north to Downtown. This section is currently closed. As I write this it's ok to ride through the construction but when it gets warmer the crews will return. If you encounter the closure, ride the Greeway to Minnehaha Ave. Turn Left on Minnehaha, Left on 26th, then right to re-join the bike path.

Trails End. Right on 11th. On Street Bike Lane Available.

Left on 2nd. On Street Bike Lane Available.

Right on Portland

Left on West River Parkway. Off street bike lane available beginning here. Street riding is of high quality here as well.

Left on 4th Ave.

Left on 2nd Street

Right on 3rd. On Street bike lane available here.

I expect ball park construction will play havok with this section of the trail when it begins. Extension of the Cedar Lake Trail to the River is part of the Twins Stadium plan.

Often handy to jump on the side walk here to more easily merge onto the Cedar Lake Trail.

Begin Cedar Lake Trail. Another bike freeway. Very few Street level intersections.

Turn Right at Trail Intersection. If you miss the turn you will find yourself back at the 29th Street Greenway. If that happens turn right on the Greenway to return to start point.

Pedestrian Seperation Ends here (at the Minneapolis City Limit)
