The way points of this bicycle route:

Gisborne

Start outside the Jolly Miller cafe 29 Brantome St

Turn Right on Robertson St then left at roundabout onto Aitken St

Short hard climb up to the freeway

New Gisborne

Turn Left at the school onto Ferrier Rd

Go around the roundabout and take the road marked Black Forest Drive - Stay on this all the way to Woodend

Macedon

Gradual climb for next 4-5km

Woodend

Cross over Railway bridge

Woodend

Continue through Woodend and up the hill to the Romsey turnoff.

Be careful of traffic and turn right onto the Romsey Rd.

Hesket

Turn left off the main road and right onto South Rock Road toward Hanging Rock

Take the first major road (Straws Lane) on the right after passing Hanging Rock - There is probably no road signpost

The hillclimbing starts here.

Very steep section here leading up to the Mt Macedon Rd. But it's not too long.

Turn left onto Mt Macedon Rd. Mild climb on switchbacks to the top

Top of the hill - No more climbing! Take care on the descent - very steep and fast.

Mt Macedon village

Bottom of Mountain - Turn around and ride back up

Top of the hill - Turn and head back down - Fast!

Turn left at roundabout back onto Ferrier Rd and back to Gisborne reverse of the way you came at the start

New Gisborne

Gisborne

Finish with coffee and cake at the Jolly Miller.
