The way points of this bicycle route:
Out my garage, around a few bends, the down 3100S with the wind in my face. What a wake-up!!!
L on Orchard Dr
Not a bike lane here, but a decent shoulder. Watch out, lots of runners when the weather is nice.
Slow down. School zones apply to bicycles, as well.
Careful. This is a busy traffic circle. We have to yield to cars coming down from Eagle Ridge, but I can safely get around many cars waiting at the light. CCW circle, down 50meters on Eagle Ridge, L on Hwy89.
Left on to a pretty busy Hwy 89. Very little shoulder, but the cars aren't going too fast at this point.
VERY DANGEROUS merge on to Beck St. I stop in the shoulder and cross perpendicular to the road when it is clear instead of trying to stay in the lane and merging.
Fast cars, but a wide shoulder at this point... and usually a headwind.
CAREFUL. You lose your shoulder at this point. I wave my hands frantically so the cars coming from behind know I'm moving left.
No shoulder. Be careful along here!!!
If you're going to the Capitol, head up Victory Rd... not for me, however.
L on Wall St
Ahhh, relief. Back in a quiet neighborhood. Wave to the children waiting for their bus.
R on 200 W
L on 200 N
R on W Temple
One more gauntlet to run. Zip up N Temple. Watch out for buses and pedestrians. L on N Temple
One steep grunt, then a very nice ride up the hill to the U. There is a bike lane here. Straight on to 2nd Ave
L on E St
R on 3rd Ave
Depending on where one is heading on campus, you could turn a different direction here. I am heading up to the Medical Center so I wind thru the neighborhood up to Medical Dr.
Now you are at the hospital and all points 'upper campus'. Follow pretty much the same route heading home. Enjoy your day!
