Galway to nowhere and back
by tedegan

The way points of this bicycle route:

Not the most direct path I know, but this is the way I went.

At a certain point around here, the N59 turns into a 100kp freeway with no shoulder. Then it gets a shoulder, which is nice, then it turns into an 80km with no shoulder again, etc. Not the greatest biking choice, in other words.

suburban Moycullen

Having no map or any clear idea of where I was going, I wanted to get off the main road and into some scenery, so I turned here at a stream and a nice old mill.

Around about here my chain fell off and got jammed, it started to rain hard, and the neighborhood sheep dogs started giving me trouble. So I declared a "lesson learned" about the map and turned back. I saw the intersection up ahead but wasnàt convinced it went anywhere: I should have taken it to Spiddal, would have made for a much more interesting ride.
