The way points of this bicycle route:
cross El Camino at the light
can take Cuesta to Grant if that's the preference
zig to the left. there's a bike shop on your right here.
merge onto Foothill here.
Left on Alpine Road. (Sand Hill Rd (Right) goes to Palo Alto)
it gets a little dicey here. watch for cars mergin on and off 280.
Turn Right onto Portola Road. There's a store at the corner for burgers or water.
Veer onto Sandhill to loop back. I'll have to investigate Skyline Blvd on my next ride.

there are plenty of other options for heading back to MV. Otherwise, can get back onto Junipero to Foothill.

I liked Portola, this is one (somewhat unimaginitive) way to get there and back from Mountain View. There are variations you can take if you don't want to bike back on the same road.
