Follow NCN 1 signs from here
Probably best to follow NCN 1 and turn right, then turn left at next junction. I didn't.
There's a wide-ish paved sidewalk along the A68 that is reasonably useable on a bike
spokes map suggests that you can turn left and cut through to rosewell here. There's a sign that prohibits access for all "vehicles" beyond the sawmill. Haven't tried to see whether you can pass it on a bike.
Rejoin NCN 1 for a bit until carrington.
Road turns pretty rough here. Not for roadies
