The way points of this bicycle route:
Wandering Goat Cafe. Great pastries, good coffee too.
Relatively wide shoulder exists along Franklin Blvd, but traffic is fast, be cautious.
Wave at the Lane Transit District office!
Wave at the UPS trucks
Wave at the yummy bread factory!
Stop & catch your breath and drink up some water before heading onto Franklin. Again, traffic is fast, includes log trucks at times.
Road gets narrow and steep.
Tricky intersection. Get in left turn lane & wait for arrow, you bike should trigger the signal. Take the lane after left turn because no shoulder at all and lots of thorn bushes of you try to stay far right. (I wave any cars behind me in left turn lane ahead first so I don't get pressure from behind)
Lovely flat road with good pavement. Not tons of shoulder but low traffic to make up for it.
Watch for farmstands with delicious produce.
Use caution crossing the 58: many lanes of very fast cars.
Pleasantly low-traffic.
Again, lots of fast traffic on 58. Bridge has OK shoulder but not great. Be careful merging into left turn lane for Brabham Road (I got a rude gesture from a motorcyclist, ppppbt)
Uphill! And, like the street sign says, winding.
When pavement ends, look for tiny single-track foot path on the right. Prepare for grabby blackberry vines!
Gradual uphill. Really gorgeous fields along here. Like golden corduroy.
After these lovely quiet farm roads, watch out for the big fast cars at this intersection!
Say hello to the staff at the kiosk. Cyclists pay no day use fee, right on!
Time for a picnic!
