The way points of this bicycle route:
This point is a bus stop for the Alameda County Transit buses of line U and DB.
Crossing this intersection is a real pain at rush hour. Many drivers don't honor the pedestrian crosswalk.
Alread in Fremont, but a ways to go.
Up here to go over railroad tracks.
Entrance to Alameda Creek Trail Bike Path. See http://www.ebparks.org/ for more information on this fine trail.
No cars at all on this long segment.
Under train tracks. See satellite image to view the Trail.
Under Alvarado-Niles Boulevard.
Under Interstate 880. Caution: there was an attempted rape here at 6 PM on August 4, 2006.
Somewhere around here, there's a well-signed place to get water.
Under Decoto Road.
This segment is elevated and has a steep drop-off on either side of the trail. Pay attention and be careful!
Under Isherwood.
Past Quarry Lakes.
Overpass here is for pedestrians and bikes only.
This part of the route is patrolled by a very bored Alameda County Water District security guard during afternoon commute.
Under the BART tracks.
Crossing the Hayward Fault!
Great birdwatching here.
Under railroad tracks.
Under Mission Boulevard. There's a temptation to turn on Mission but the Mowry Avenue intersection is dangerous.
This stretch continues on the bicycle trail, not the railroad tracks!
Under Canyon Heights
Under Old Canyon Road. This underpass is dangerous as there's a blind downhill turn on a narrow path.
End of the paved bike path. This park has water.
Under the trees there's a ramp from the parking lot to Clarke Road.
Canyon Heights is a low-traffic road, with speed bumps.
Short segment on Maar to get to Canyon Heights/Walnut Ave.
These railroad tracks are out of service and will become a bike path eventually.
Traffic light at this intersection; much safer than getting on Mission at the intersection with the Creek Trail.
Turn on Stevenson to get to Central Park or Centerville (Little Kabul). Continue on Mission to get to Mission San Jose or Irvington.
