The way points of this bicycle route:
Basically get under the Gowanus Expressway and onto Fort Hamilton Parkway, heading north. Fort Hamilton is a little busy, but shouldn't be too bad.
An alternate route I'd never thought of would be to take 4th Avenue north, then go east on one of the high 30s, 39th or 36th/37th, and then pick up Fort Hamilton. Probably a lot fewer cars.
This is where my regular route from the Shore Parkway, via Owl's Head and Sunset Parks, hits Fort Hamilton.
Bear right hear and cross Dahill (snicker).
Bear a sharp left here, and follow it bending right until you get to the traffic circle at the southwest of Prospect Park. Dunno the street names.
You can figure your own way through Prospect Park if you want. I stay on the roads outside, lest BikeSnobNYC snap me and I become embarrassed. Also, all the aggro bike-club pro types drag race incessantly in P Park.
This all gets kind of finicky here. Basically, head north until you cross Atlantic, then head northeasterly until you get to Bedford.
Here begins the Hipster Silk Road. You have been warned.
Turning right onto Lynch and proceeding north on Union (crossing Broadway), is a tried and true way of avoiding Douchester McFixie Town
Here be douchebags.
