A short stop a the crossroad of the «Tourmalet» taverne in the hometown of Johan Museeuw. Eddy Merckx also rode with us; the ride being an initiative of the governors of East and West Flanders
On the marketplace of Deinze it was time to regroup before doing the final 20 km. We had to shelter for a thunderstorm, too.
The arrival on the Charles de Kerkhovelaan was fenomenal. There were already huge crowds ahead of the arrival of the real Tour de France peleton.
