Derrimut

Let's start here. This route is suitable for people riding from Derrimut, Deer Park or nearby.

Derrimut

Turn left at Middle Rd. It's an unsigned dirt road not suitable for wet weather or road bikes. Alternatively, Continue down Mt Derrimut Rd to Bliss Dr (signed Swan Dr), and come up Fitzgerald Rd.

Sunshine West

There's a locked gate here, but you can go around the fence.

Turn left onto Fitzgerald Rd.

Go under the overpass and follow the Western Ring Path north. It's safer and nicer than Fitzgerald Rd.

Cross Forest St.

Sunshine

Cross the creek and follow the creek path east, behind tumbledown old houses.

Endter Burnewang St, it's quiet and safe.

Cross Anderson Rd and find the path that runs between the Church and the park.

Cross the pedestrian bridge (steps) and continue through the Sunshine business district.

Braybrook

Devonshire Rd is great for bikes. Nice and wide and not very busy.

Maidstone

Cross Ballarat Rd. It's too bike-unfriendly to ride on. Detour instead down Mitchell St, which now has a bike lane. :)

Be careful at the Y intersection. The left lane turns down Hampstead Rd. The right continues ahead down Mitchell St.

Cross Gordon St and head into Edgewater Estate, past Aldi.

Left at the roundabout and down the big hill.

Turn left and take Cumberland Dr down to the Maribrynong River path.

Maribyrnong

Going left (north) will take you towards Essendon. South skirts lower Footscray and leads eventually to Williamstown.

Footscray

Double back up onto Dynon Rd to get to North Melbourne (go east) or Footscray (go west).

Footscray

Double back up onto Footscray Rd (Docklands Hwy) to go to the Docklands / New Quay precinct and lower CBD.
