The way points of this bicycle route:
East of the city center, enter Route 409, which is marked as Cycle Track 48, and proceed east.
Intersection with Route 410. Continue east on Route 409.
Vratěnín, a protected historical village, features Grasel’s Path, a scenic two kilometer loop through the territory of the legendary bandit Johann Georg Grasel. Continue on Route 409 (Cycle Track 48). A border crossing to Austria is to the south from here.
Chateau Uherčice features several restored rooms and a surrounding park and gardens, open to the public.
Begin steep descent into Dyje Valley.

On the left, after crossing the Dyje River, is the road to Podhradí nad Dyjí. About two kilometers up the road, you can see the ruins of Castle Frejštejn.
A Jewish cemetery is located just north of the town center.
The baroque chateau of Vranov nad Dyjí overlooks the river. Its chapel and Hall of Ancestors were designed by the Austrian architect Johann Bernard Fischer von Erlach, who also designed Vienna's Schönbrunn palce. Several hiking trails are available through the chateau's estate.
The center of town is on the opposite side of the river. Cycle Track 48 turns left here, leaving Route 398. An alternate route is to cross the bridge and remain on Route 398, rejoining the Greenways Trail before Lesná. The route is shorter, but the climb is steeper. For mountain bikers and those willing to hike, another alternative is to enter Národny Park Podyji directly from this town, riding on Cycle Track 5122.

Attractions include a restored windmill and a motorcycle museum. Cyclists on skinny tire bikes may want to skip the next segment, through Národny Park Podyji, and turn left on Route 408, proceeding directly to Znojmo. The route through the park passes through unique wilderness areas, and includes preserved border fortifications, remnants of the Iron Curtain.
Turn south off Route 308 to enter the park.
Iron Curtain Memorial. Barbed wire fortifications south of the village have been preserved here, the only such memorial in the Czech Republic, and there is a visitor's center.
The trail veers to the right, through on unpaved section. An alternate route is through Horni Breckov.
Begin descent through a heavily wooded area into the gorge of the Dyje River. This area may not be suited to riding on bicycles with skinny tires.
Cross River Dyje via footbridge.
Cross Route 413. To the south is the Austrian border. To the north is the city of Znojmo. Znojmo, a major city with overnight accommodations, features medieval fortifications, underground passages, the Rotunda of St. Catherines, and the Louka Monastery. It would be a good place to break this ride into two days.
Satov features more than 100 wine cellars, including the Painted Wine Cellar #46, decorated by a one-armed artist. Two defensive bunkers dating from WWII are open for touring.

At this point, Cycle Track 48 detours off the roadway briefly, and rejoins the road at Chavlovice.
Enter Chvalovice via a wine cellar street, lined with shops where local wine vintners produce wines.

This route runs from Slavonice to Znojmo via the Prague-Vienna Greenways trail. It offers the best views of old Iron Curtain fortifications.
