Vranov nad Dyjí

The center of town is on the opposite side of the river. Cycle Track 48 turns left here, leaving Route 398. An alternate route is to cross the bridge and remain on Route 398, rejoining the Greenways Trail before Lesná. The route is shorter, but the climb is steeper. For mountain bikers and those willing to hike, another alternative is to enter Národny Park Podyji directly from this town, riding on Cycle Track 5122.

Vranov nad Dyjí

Cycle Track 48 crosses Vranov Dam. Swim here during the summer months

Lesná

Attractions include a restored windmill and a motorcycle museum. Cyclists on skinny tire bikes may want to skip the next segment, through Národny Park Podyji, and turn left on Route 408, proceeding directly to Znojmo. The route through the park passes through unique wilderness areas, and includes preserved border fortifications, remnants of the Iron Curtain.

Národny Park Podyji

Turn south off Route 308 to enter the park.

Cross Route 413. To the south is the Austrian border. To the north is the city of Znojmo. Znojmo, a major city with overnight accommodations, features medieval fortifications, underground passages, the Rotunda of St. Catherines, and the Louka Monastery. It would be a good place to break this ride into two days.

Satov

Satov features more than 100 wine cellars, including the Painted Wine Cellar #46, decorated by a one-armed artist. Two defensive bunkers dating from WWII are open for touring.
