We saw deer, a moose, and domestic buffalo on the Mickelson Trail section. A cave tour after you arrive is a must.
There's lots of wildlife along the Mickelson Trail which you should follow until the white elephant trailhead. You should go on one of the Wind Cave tours after you arrive. Reverse route to get back to Custer

Follow Michelson Train from Custer towards Pringle. Change to route 385 at the White Elephant trailhead. Bear left at Pringle to stay on 385. Follow signs to Wind Cave.
