The way points of this bicycle route:
This route shows how to get to/from the Cooks River Cycle way with the most interesting, least hilly route through Rookwood cemetary
Cross the road at the pedestrian crossing, use the pedestrian gate to enter Rookwood Necropolis
Turn right - up hill for a bit. The greek cemetary is notable for the constant attendance by mourners at the graves, the smell of incence and the funerary boxes on each of the graves. Watch out for pedestrians in this section.
This next section takes you past the older Lutheran graves and the Catholic office.
To your right is the Islamic Cemetary and then to your left is the Rose garden followed by the Heritage listed Art Deco Crematorium
The War Graves cemetary is on your right. Those buried here served overseas in a recognised conflict and died on the way home or less than 1 year after returning. It is a very sad place
Turn right - this is a dodgy corner because most people don't know where they are going and are therefore too busy looking at street signs to see cyclists. If you are of nervous disposition then its a good idea to ride on the footpath on the left here as there are many council and Australia Post trucks in Weerona Rd
Cross using the pedestrian crossing
You have now joined the Cooks River Cycleway. Turn left for the 2000 Olympics site, Homebush railway station and Parramatta. Turn right for the inner west; Botany Bay, the airport and Cronulla
