The day's journey can best be described as a long and gradual uphill ride with an overall gain in elevation of about 550 feet. Despite being located close to major cities, the 25 mile stretch between Brazil and Plainfield is very rural and there are almost no services (they all moved out to the Interstate!). You'll be using various alignment of Route 40 all day and you will completely avoid I-70. If you follow this itinerary, you do so at your own risk.
