The way points of this bicycle route:
Race start and finish location - finishing straight is a long uphill drag. Parking and toilet facilities available on race days at the Staughtonvale Hall.
Turn onto Granite Rd, you almost immediately start climbing up a short sharp hill. Expect attacks to come fast and furiously here, most riders will wait for this section even though it is still a oong way from home!
Turn left. The Ford proving ground is to your right. This corner was made famous by the first TAC ad. Older Victorians will probably remember this...
A hard slog on dead roads and more often than not into a stiff headwind.
Some relief with a nice little section of road that is sheltered and quick. A narrow bridge will keep you alert.
The start and finish point for many of the Norhern Combine races held on this course. This next section is well know for it's dead roads - stronger riders love this section!
Homeward bound. A number of rolling rises which are perfect to try and make a break for home on your own. Choose were you attack wisely as the way home is tougher than you initially think.
Depending on what lap you are on you will either turn left onto Granite Rd or continue straight to the finish. This sprint is a hard one to judge, go a little to early you will get over run, go way early you might get a break on the field, go to late and you'll never get over the first movers! How to take this sprint is up to you - I have seen it won many different ways.
