Coolidge Corner Brookline to Waverly Square, Belmont MA
by NoWay

The way points of this bicycle route:

Brookline

Just west of Coolidge Corner

Allston

Narrow with parked cars. Urban. Avoid the Door Zone and be alert.

Allston

This light cycle is short so go just when the light turns green. The crossing is wide here and it takes a while. Cross B-Line trolley tracks. Look out for turning cars crossing your path.

Allston

Narrow with parked cars. Avoid the Door Zone!

Brighton

Narrow street

Brighton

Cross Market Street, a main drag.

Brighton

RIGHT onto Parsons at light downhill

Brighton

Narrow with parked cars, but you can go fast, so take the lane.

Brighton

Narrow with parked cars, but you can go fast, so take the lane.

Brighton

There's a traffic light just ahead.

Brighton

You're going to rock down to Electric Avenue. But you've got to take it higher.

Brighton

Under the Mass. Pike and the old B&A RR mainline (now MBTA, CSX, and Amtrak). By the way, you're coming up to a traffic light.

Brighton

While waiting at this light, prepare for your crossing! This looks scary, but you have places to stop out of the way of traffic, if you need to. Obey the lights and position yourself in the lane for your destination and you're good to go! Watch for traffic coming from your right on Soldier's Field Road when you bear left in the curve and then cross lanes to go to the right.

Brighton

Look to your right! Stop at this island to your right if you need to, and wait for a gap in traffic.

Brighton

Move to the right side of the road, and then get ready to take a right to climb up onto the bridge spanning the Charles River.

Watertown

RIGHT onto North Beacon. The right lane is right-turn-only. Check for traffic behind you, and move to the leftmost part of the right lane now. Then go straight through as you head down off the bridge.

Watertown

Hey! I said to move over to your left and take the lane. That car turning onto Charles River Road in the right lane is going to cut you off! These are Boston drivers, pallie!

Watertown

Watertown

Straight through at the upcoming light. The Watertown Arsenal complex is to your right. Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition! Their little nuclear reactor is gone now.

Watertown

Watertown is the home of Seven Cycles (125 Walnut Street) just north of you now.

Watertown

RIGHT turn onto Irving Street.

Watertown

You have to jog right to go across onto Palfrey Street. And there's a traffic light.

Watertown

RIGHT on Church Street to avoid major hill on Palfrey

Watertown

Prepare to turn left.

Watertown

HARD LEFT onto Orchard Street when you reach Common Street.

Watertown

Watertown

RIGHT onto Waverly Avenue.

Belmont

STRAIGHT across Belmont Street at light. Note: This is the Watertown side of the town line! Belmont is a dry town, so if you want to buy a six-pack or some wine, take a right and go about a quarter-mile to the Hardy Spa packie at Hardy Ave. Last chance! You know... you really should have thought of this back in Brookline, at that liquor store and grocery near Summit Ave. But then again, you won't have to carry it very far from here.

Belmont

RIGHT onto Beech Street at the flashing yellow light

Belmont

4-way STOP! Isn't this road annoyingly narrow with the street parking?

Belmont

STRAIGHT across Trapelo Road staying on Beech. If you go left here, Belmont Wheelworks is up a bit on your left on Trapelo Road (at the corner of White Street).

Belmont

LEFT on Harris!

Belmont

STRAIGHT crossing Waverly Street. It's busy sometimes and people drive a little too fast here, so stop and look both ways.

Belmont

Pearl Street!
