The way points of this bicycle route:
You can either ride to Conduit Lane or it's got free parking so we sometimes put the bikes on the car and drive there. There is also a little tea shop just inside the park so it's a good place to meet up or recover afterwards.
At this point the road ends and you're off road on the bridle path.
Steepish descent over gravel, you can turn left and follow the road up a short way before taking the first right and following that down. Don't go too fast as there is a main road at the bottom.
At the bottom of the hill cross Croham Valley Road and go up the driveway to the golf course.
Just as you reach the Golf Course car park there is a small pathway on your right.
There are about four really spectacular potholes within about the first 20' of the path starting.
This is a fair climb and it's pretty narrow just before the signpost.
At the top of the climb you'll find a signpost. If you fancy an easier route take a left and follow it down to the road and then back again. For this route go straight on up the valley (stay to the left on the way up).
The bench is a welcome break after the climb and does have a great view.
At the end of the path along the top of the ridge there is a very, very steep drop off to the right down a path. Personally I'd walk it but if you fancy plunging down and reckon you can miss the trees good luck.
There are stairs down from here to the Upper Selsdon Road, turn left when you get to the road.
At the bus stop on the left with the bus shelter you can turn up the path where the pavement starts.
For an easier ride you can go straight on at the cross roads, on to Bankside, turn down Winchelsey Rise and right on to Manor Way which will bring you back down to the Golf Course car park entrance on Croham Valley Road. For this ride turn right and retrace your steps.
At Croham Valley Road take a right and instead of retracing your steps take Ballards Farm Road which is a partly made road. Don't go too fast if it's been wet recently as there are occasional muddy ruts which make life suddenly interesting.
Turn left to continue up Ballards Farm Road which is normal tarmac but a pretty full on climb.
Very busy just up here but it's not too bad to cross.
Cross through the woods to the carpark by the Chinese restaurant.
Turn left on to Sunken Road and follow right to the end.
Before the road crosses the tram tracks then take a right and head into the woods on the big paths.
You can see Wembly from here on a good day.
From the viewpoint turn left and follow down into the valley and follow the valley down to the right until you get to the road. The route on here is pretty rough so be careful you may suddenly find that it gets extremely steep.
With a bit of luck you'll come out of the woods quite close to the drive down to the golf course, turn down that looking for the path on the left.
The path to the left of the driveway is pretty easy to find and follow however it can be pretty over grown so do keep your eyes open for big patches of brambles in the path.
There are occasionally branches and in some cases small tree trunks which have ended up across the path, notmally they're the Coombe Road end of it over half way down the path.
Turn right on to Oaks Road and follow it to the end.
At Coombe Lane it's almost straight across (busy road though) back into Conduit Lane.
Worth visiting the tea rooms and the toilets.
Time for a well earned break, there are also toilets here. Then you can either make your way home or back to the car in Conduit Lane.
