Columbia: Clemson Loop

The way points of this bicycle route:

Five Points

I lived nearby for many years. Five Points is a central, fun area downtown from which to start/end. This is a bank parking lot at Saluda/Blossom. This ride is good for Northeast winds.

Left onto Blossom and continue.

Shandon

Left on Sims

Cross Millwood, usually medium traffic.

Jog to immediate left turn!

Left and first right onto Devereaux, a nice street.

Heathwood

Left on Kilbourne

Left on Beltline, a wide road with a bike lane.

Take the small fork to the right, for a short roller-coaster downhill!

Forest Acres

Right on Trenholm, a wide road with a bike lane and/or plenty of room.

Traffic at Forest.

Trenholm here is enjoyable!

Arcadia Lakes

Nice suburbs this way, some of the oldest in Columbia.

Windsor Lake

The Trenholm Road extension has long been complete, here, continue on to Alpine.

Right here, apex of curve.

Sorry for the map-gap, Alpine is within sight of the extension, so right turn here.

Left on Polo, narrow road, but traffic is bike-aware.

Right on Mallet Hill. Road may have gravely roughness for 100 yards, then smooth.

Wildewood

Right on Sparkleberry Lane.

Left on Clemson Road, which is a wide, fast, fun one!

Summit

Longtown

Take Longtown, then left on Farrow.

Left on Farrow (555), for another long run.

Farrow/77

Left on Rabon, first right on Old Farrow. Alternatively, you can continue on Farrow all the way back downtown in Columbia.

Continue around dogleg here, to 2 Notch.

Right on 2 Notch, a busy road, but you get a fast roller here.

Left on O'Neil Court.

Left on Hunt Club.

Windsor Lake

Right on Windsor Lake.

Right on Brookfield, main right road at fork, you should have the right of way most times.

Long stretch to do a sprint or spin out any stiffness.

Short drop downhill, here!!

Right on Shorebrook.

Left back onto Trenholm.

Feels like a hill here, but it's not bad.

One of the most biked cross-sections in town. No one will even gape at you here.

Left on Haynesworth. I like this backroad, which has a short, steep climb, the gentlest of this area.

Get ready for an out of saddle climb, but a short one.

Heathwood

Right back onto Kilbourne.

Right on Devereaux.

Left on Heathwood Circle.

Left on Sweetbriar.

Hard stop at Devine. You'll almost never get the light here.

Right on Blossom, straight on back to Five Points.

Back in Five Points!
