The way points of this bicycle route:

Going under Michigan Rd

Take the path underneath Michigan Rd. Watch our for trolls!

Lillly Gardens

This is a nice place to take a break. Cross the bridge and take a left to the babbling brook where you can walk around the beautiful garden.

38th Street

Kind of dark underneath the bridge. Slow down and watch carefully for trolls.

Interstate 65

Slow down. The trolls may have created some potholes!

White River Trail

Turn right here to cross the road to White River Trail. Watch for cars!

The path narrows in front of some apartments. Slow down.

Blind corner

Slow down and be sure there is no one around the corner.

Parking lot

Be careful as there are often cars parked here.

30th St

Wait for traffic to pass, then cross over to the left hand lane land head west to the stoplight.

29th St.

If the light is red, position your bicycle directly over the middle trip wire to change the light to green. Go fast. The light doesn't last long. You can jump onto the trail at the corner or just continue on along the White River Parkway.

You can get onto the White River Trail here.

Watch for cars going into or out of the parkinglot.

Watch for cars.

16th St

Lots of traffic. Careful crossing the street.

A fun bridge with a complete stop at the end, so you can avoid any trains.

A beautiful bridge. Careful at the end in case someone is around the corner.

10th St

You can cross all the way over to the sidewalk and head west to the next street, but I just get in the left hand land going west and turn left just before the bridge. Watch for cars that can come pretty fast.

You can get back on the trail here. Or you can just go down the road, too.

West

You can go straight here all go all the way down to White River Park, but I like to turn right, go across the bridge and get on the walkway next to the river. It will take you to the Zoo.

Be careful of the traffic before crossing.

Promenade

Slow down and be careful of others around these blind corners.

Indianapolis Zoo

There is lots to see at the White River Park. Take your time and enjoy the scenery.

Canal

You will have to ride slowly along the canal.

Blind corner.

Meridian St

We take a left here, getting into the right hand lane and turning right at the corner. Watch for traffic both ways.

Wait for the green light and then cross both lanes to continue straight ahead.

Railroad tracks. Keep your wheels perpendicular to them.

Dorman Street

Turn left here.

10th Street

This light doesn't seem to respond to bicycles, even if I put my wheel directly over the center line. I have called the Mayor's office to no avail. Best to proceed cautiously across the east bound lane to the west bound lane and one to the sidewalk, which will take you to the Monon Trail north (right).

38th St

Careful . Lots of traffic here. Be mindful of traffic coming out of the Fairgrounds.

49th St

You can turn left here and go directly to where you started at Butler University. Or you can go on to Broad Ripple with lots of places to eat and drink. It is only a mile or so.

Careful. Lots of traffic.

College Ave.

It's a little tricky here. You may want to walk your bike across College Ave to the tow path along the canal across the street.

Watch for traffic before crossing.
