The way points of this bicycle route:
Start at the chateau and at the exit, TL at TJ, towards Ciney, along N937, short climb then descend
Take the second left, along Chemin d'Halijoux. The junction is one way. This turn, turns back on itself, descend to pass a barn LHS and bear right and climb
At the roundabout on the edge of Ciney TR and head/climb for the centre. There is a short bike lane RHS to save going onto the roundabout
Having climbed into Ciney, the main town is too the right. In this case carry on through the town. When the shops start to run out, the road bears left and at this point TR (no SP)
Cross the N97 and remain on the N957. SP Pessoux, descend then climb. Just before entering Pessoux there is a boulangerie RHS.
Boulangerie very soon RHS (cold drinks too)
TL at TJ, SP March, Haversin along N938
TR at XR SP Haversin, and descend.
Railway line RHS, climb again
In Haversin TR at TJ, along N929, towards Chevetogne. There is a shop RHS. The road will be signed to Rochefort and Houyet. Cross the railway and bear left
TL at TJ along N949. There is a red and white mast in front and you will be at the brow of the hill so take care. There is a cyclelane on this road. Pass sign for Rochefort, Givet, Ciergnon.
TR, SP Domaine Provincial Chevetogne, Houyet, Villiers, Ciergnon. This is a lovely road on a ridge with good views.
TR into Chevetogne park. There is a big sign and it's very obvious. Descend, pay at the booth and climb again past the windmill. Where the car parks split either way, take the left one and walk down to the bottom which will take you to the pool. (Note swimming cap and speedos oblgatory!!) No other way out so return here to continue the route
Lunch, cafes, pool etc. Return to entrance
TR, SP Chevetogne. Descend into the village then climb steeply out.
There is a detour here if interested. Tale the sign right to the Oriental Abbey and descend. Don't take the left turn as this ends in a dead end. Carry on to the building and there is a track LHS that takes you to Chevetogne village.
At the bottom of the hill climb out of the village. There is a road that goes straight up through the centre but the road to the right is easier considering the gradient
Bar and small shop (behind) LHS, continue to climb
The road has flattens out now and descend towards Leignon
Cross the railway and now follow the signs for Ciney. The road parallels the railway
At the roundabout, TR, SP Liege, Marche and Ciney. Take care on this road as it's quite busy. The next junction is quite tricky so take care
Take the slip road to the right, SP Yvoir, Spontin, Ciney, then pass under the N97. Don't take the right turn signed Ciney. This will climb and will eventually take you back to the centre of Ciney. Instead carry straight on and this goes to the south of Ciney
Pass the railway station LHS and continue back towards Spontin and the chateau
TR back to the chateau
