The way points of this bicycle route:
I normally start at a mate's house who lives round here but the tram stop seemed like as good a place as any to use as a starting point for the route.
When you get to the tram tracks turn off down the cycle path to the left of the tram tracks. It's tarmac but not very well made, you can pick up some good speed down this.
On the far side of the roundabout drop off the pavement on to the grass
Drop into the side street area of Featherbed Lane and follow it up to the top. It's a long climb from here to Farley Common so don't start off too fast or you'll regret it later.
When you get to the top of the road (not the end of Featherbed Lane but of the parallel side road) cross Featherbed Lane and continue up Court Wood Lane
At the roundabout at the top take the footpath on the far side. About 20' up it you can fork left or right, take the left hand fork.
Right at the top the bushes encroach on both sides and then the path takes a hard and steep left up onto a gravel area.
Turn left on to Old Farleigh Road.
Turn off on to the grass track that runs alongside the road.
Drop back on to the road when the path ends.
Opposite The Harrow pub (worth nipping into if you're tired) take a left and follow Harrow Road.
Straight on down Ledgers Road over the Chesham Road crossroads.
Turn left on to Church Lane.
Turn left, through the gate and down the track.
When you get to the gate at the end turn right on to the road.
Take the gate on your left but don't expect it to look like a road, it's a muddy track.
Change into a low gear as you start the descent here as there is a sudden climb at the bottom which is challenging in even a low gear. Once you stop you have to push the bike although you can restart about halfway up the hill where the gate to the field is.
Through the gate on to the path and then carry straight on.
Turn left on to Fairchildes Road
Definitely worth a stop off at the White Bear before heading home.
Cut off the road, Park Road is no longer a road, more like a trail but is loosely tarmac.
Just before Skid Hill Lane turn left and take the footpath over the fields.
Watch out for the large mound at the end of the footpath as you join King Henry's Drive.
Turn left from King Henrys Drive into Fairchildes Ave.
Turn left on to Comport Green.
Turn left on to Homestead Way
Join Overbury Crescent and at the mini roundabout bear right to stay on Overbury Crescent.
Back to where you started.
