US17 had low traffic volumes on Sunday morning but was said to be busy at other times. There is a parallel greenway a few hundred metres to thesouth of the highway that goes as far as John's Island.

Old Jacksonboro Hwy to the south of US17 was covered in thick sand and had a gated section, in June 2007.
A good lunch stop on the LH (south) side of the highway, just before the turnoff to the Ritter road.
