Centerville - John Bryan S.P. Loop
by Softrider

The way points of this bicycle route:

Centerville

Start at the Ritter's Frozen Custard. You'll be glad you parked here when you're done.

I've always ridden the loop counterclockwise. It's not mandatory, of course, but that's how the map is laid out -- so turn right here.

Sometimes there can be some fast-moving traffic on Social Row Road, so be alert and stay to the right.

E. Centerville Road (aka Centerville-Spring Valley Pike) has some rough spots where the pavement has deteriorated. Watch out for them.

There is just a very short section on SR 42, but it can be a busy highway, so be careful.

There is a gas station and convenience store at this intersection. You shouldn't need anything yet, but it's there if you do.

A small, yappy, bike-chasing dog has been sighted in this area.

Watch for traffic entering and exiting on this interchange.

If you blink here, you'll miss the Wilberforce University campus.

Moderately steep and twisty descent ahead. Build some momentum to carry you part of the way up the ascent on the other side.

Nice descent ahead; enough to overshoot the upcoming sharp right turn if you don't pay attention.

This ascent is known locally as "The Devil's Backbone". It's not as bad as it sounds. The steepest part is near the bottom.

Turn left onto the bike trail. If you need water, you can turn right instead -- there is a building with a drinking fountain and vending machine immediately to the north.

Continue on the bike trail all the way to Xenia.

Exit the bike trail at this point and head across SR 68.

Re-enter bike trail here. Kil-Kare speedway is to your right.

Exit the bike trail and head south on Factory Road.

The map does not properly depict the actual road layout here. After turning right off of N. Lakeman Dr., take the next right and follow it all the way to E. Briggs Rd. -- then turn left on Briggs.

Build some momentum here -- you'll need it for the short but steep ascent on the other side of Ambridge.

Get in the left turn lane after you pass Centerville High School.

Watch out for traffic on E. Spring Valley Road. When there's a break in the traffic, move into the left turn lane.

Done! Reward yourself with some frozen custard.
