The way points of this bicycle route:
Single lane road with swooping climbs and great views across to Arran
Alleged town of Claonig, no services at all except a very windswept and cold ferry terminal.
Tremendous scenery, not limited to free roaming deer, mountains, ruined castles, and sheep playing football.
Moderately steep and steady going. Bumpy very fast descent causes moments of terror. Brilliant though...
Ferry to Ardrossan
Ayrshire, and back into proper (un)civilisation for the first time since Helensburgh
At this point the A737 turns into an expressway. Use with caution.
Arriveé! 240 miles in 2 days.

Day 2 of a 2-day tour I did back in 2006. Kintyre and Arran were great, but while Ardrossan to home was very fast, it was completely uninteresting.
