Route Details

Tour the three lakes: Malibu, Westlake, and Sherwood. This ride skirts the foothills of the Santa Monica Mountains and provides a grand tour of three local lakes. First is Malibu Lake offering a bucolic setting of what was once a remote escape from the metropolis. Next is Westlake with its well developed shoreline. And finally is Lake Sherwood, created for but never used by Errol Flynn's movie Robin Hood. You might even see a peacock at Peter Strauss Ranch. Restrooms and water are available at both Juan Bautista Park and Peter Strauss Ranch. Water is available at the Lake Sherwood fire station. This route is one of harder of the Intermediate Recreational routes bordering on Advanced Recreational. This is due to the length of the ride (50 miles) and the hills along Mulholland.
