The Bwlch is located between Lakes Bala and Vyrnwy in North Wales. It is the highest road pass in Wales. The classic wat to climb the pass is from Dinnas Mawdwy, which makes it a 12km slog in all. PARKING; PUB; PHONE

From the off you grind through a tree lined valley to the foot of the pass true. Suddenly you hit a hairpinned bend, with a gradient of around 1-in-4 - but thats another 9km away !!

Energing from this bend the vista opens up to a glorious steep-sided mountain valley. The road rears up for around 1.5km at a gradient between 1-in-5 and 1-in-6, without any relent.
This bit is as straight as an arrow and deadly steep. As you approach the final 50 m the climb weaves through the green hillocks, and the views are stunning, although the final kick is even tougher!
CAR PARK - VIEWING POINT In the 1980s, the Milk Race passed here a few times, forcing many riders to their feet and showing that it is one of the toughest climbs anywhere.
