DEPART CONTROL (1): ARCO AM-PM, 11891 Rancho Bernardo Rd, San Diego, CA (858) 487-1565. Get brevet card endorsement or other "Proof" of passage. Parking at shopping center across street. EXIT: EAST on Rancho Bernardo Rd.
LEFT on Pomerado Rd.
RIGHT on Highland Valley Rd. (Note: This follows the approx. route of the San Diego branch of Butterfield Stage line to Santa Ysabel and Warner Springs.)
LEFT on Julian Rd. (Hwy 67 to Ramona)
RIGHT on 3rd St. (becomes Old Julian Hwy)
LEFT to stay on Old Julian Hwy
Bear RIGHT on Hwy 78 (Julian Rd.)
LEFT on Hwy 79 (in Santa Ysabel) (Note: There was a stage stop here on the San Diego line.)
Continue STRAIGHT on Hwy 79 (Note: You are now on the main Butterfield Stage route from Yuma to Los Angeles - San Felipe stage stop was somewhere to South off of Co. Hwy S2.)
CONTROL (2): Ranch Gas Station and Market, Warner Springs, CA (business open: 8:00am -5:00pm), next to Post Office & volunteer fire dept. (Note: There was a Butterfield Stage stop here - they were spaced about every 25 mi.)
LEFT on Butterfield Stage Rd. (Note: Not so! The "real" stage route continued to parallel Hwy 79 going West. The local stage stop was in old town Temecula at the Vail Ranch headquarters building, long gone and the site of recent construction.))
RIGHT into shopping center - CONTROL (3): fast food restaurant & mini mart/gas station front on Hwy 79. Get Proof.
EXIT where you entered shopping center -- RIGHT on Butterfield Stage Rd.
RIGHT on Nighthawk Pass
LEFT on Redhawk Pkwy
LEFT on Wolf Valley Rd.
RIGHT on Pala Rd. (Pechange Pkwy)
LEFT on Rainbow Canyon Rd. (becomes Old Hwy 395)
RIGHT to stay on Old Hwy 395
LEFT to stay on Old Hwy 395
Continue STRAIGHT; Old Hwy 395 becomes Centre City Pkwy
LEFT on 17th Ave.
RIGHT on Escondido Blvd.
Bear LEFT on Sunset Dr.
RIGHT on Bear Valley Pkwy
LEFT on Bike Path adjoining on-ramp
LEFT on Pomerado Rd. (becomes W. Bernardo Rd.)
LEFT on Duenda Rd. (becomes Bernardo Center Dr.)
