Bracebridge to Gravenhurst around Lake Muskoka
by toroadie

The way points of this bicycle route:

Bracebridge

Start on Hwy 118 Westbound.

This is a long steep down hill ride, enjoy it.

Port Carling

In this valley there are about 2 places to get food. And past the valley up the hill there are another two.

Left onto Hwy 26 / Foreman Rd is safer than Hwy 118 but the surface is rough and there are many 12% grade climbs. You could continue on Hwy 118 and to Hwy 169 but I saw zero shoulder on Hwy 118 here and cars were passing every 5 seconds. So I turned.

This is a steep 16%? grade climb ending in a T intersection. Turn Right!

Dead end, turn around.

Back on Hwy 26 / Mortimers Point Rd. You should be here if you turned Right at the end of Foreman Rd.

L onto Hwy 169

Bala

There is an IGA, "Oliver's coffee shop" with joint laundry and restroom. Last chance for anything before Gravenhurst. They close at 6pm and 5pm resp.

Continue on Hwy 169. There is a plaque on the left side of the road at the bottom of the hill about precambrian rock/shield. Slight left under the bridge and up the hill. (The track data jumps here because I had the mapping device off for a bit).

R onto Bay Street (top of hill T intersection with stop sign)

Left on Bay / Hwy 169. (Intersection is Bay and Bay :)

Gravenhurst

Muskoka Rd S / Hwy 169. Turn right (South) and there are two hotels a diner, Tims, etc where 169 meets Hwy 11.
