The way points of this bicycle route:
Start near the IPRO Bicycle Shop on W. Franklin St.
Turn on Penewit Rd ahead. Penewit starts with a short, but tough (for early in the ride) climb.
This is the top of the climb.
Easy rolling along Penewit Rd at this point.
Careful of the occasional car traffic on Mt Holly Rd at this intersection. Your view can be obstructed by tall corn in late Summer every other year!
This point marks a fast downhill, then short climb that will get the heart rate up again.
Winding your way downhill through the Waynesville residential streets.
Turn left onto O'Neal Rd. This is the first of a handful of longer climbs on this route. This climb is of moderate intensity. At the top there are some rollers that slows the recovery from the climb.
Turn right ahead, onto Middletown Rd. This is a fun, fast downhill with a long run-out at the bottom to Corwin Rd.
Corwin Rd is a great riding road. Not much vehicle traffic, so pretty safe.
The turn ahead is onto Elbon Rd., which is up the second climb. This is another intermediate climb. At the top of the main hill, the road continues a steady grade that is only tough because it is at the top of a nice climb.
There are a variety of routes back down to Oregonia or Corwin Rd. Back on Gard Rd, you could have turned right off of Elbon Rd and headed down a steep hill to Corwin Rd. Or, you could have stayed on Oregonia Rd for another steep downhill to Corwin Rd. I prefer riding up Gard or Oregonia to riding down because of the abrupt end to the bottom of those hills (little run out). Olive Branch Rd (ahead on this route) is another route down to Oregonia, and it is a fast, fun downhill.
This side of Oregonia Rd is a long, gradual uphill grind. It is a great hill training section - ride up and down two or three times, keep your butt in the saddle. A good workout.
This point on Waynesville Rd is a fun, curvy downhill where you are riding through deep shade (heavy wooded area).
Careful crossing Rte 42 ahead.
Township Line Rd is a long, rolling country road leading straight North. It is becoming more traveled (vehicle traffic between Lebanon and SW Dayton, I guess), but it is still a great riding road.
There are a number of alternate routes off of Township Line Rd. Pekin Rd is one. Take it East back toward Waynesville, if desired.
I think this is Lytle up ahead. Easy riding the rest of the way.
At this point, turn right on Ferry Rd. This section of Ferry Rd is a great ride. Rural, few cars, nice gentle rollers, beautiful country-side ...
At this point, very close to the Bellbrook "city" limits, the road has a nice downhill run where you can fly. The end of Ferry Rd is at Waynesville Rd, where you'll see the edge of Bellbrook.
Hope you enjoyed the ride.
