The way points of this bicycle route:
Start at Ballarat station. Head west across station car park.
Left on to Lydiard Street
Right straight away on to Market Street
Cross over Midland Highway on to Webster Street, still heading west.
Straight through intersection on to Wendouree Parade
Left on to Hamilton Avenue
Right on to Sturt Street
Left on to the rail trail
There is a park and picnic shelter here. Camping is permitted too.
The path disappears here as you skirt around the oval. Could be tricky if there is a big crowd there.
An impressive trestle bridge over the creek
There's a bird hide amongst the trees near here. Look for the lake on the left after crossing the second, smaller wooden bridge.
Stop at the general store for a snack
Trail finishes on Anderson Street. Turn left to get to the town centre
The pub's the best bet for accommodation and meals. Return the next day via the same route.
