The way points of this bicycle route:
Start at Post Office. Food and drink available at shops. Toilets opposite Newsagents. Ride in a Westerly direction on Inglis Street.
Turn left into Old Geelong Road. Take care at rail crossing.
Turn left into main Geelong Ballan Road. This road can be busy with heavy transports so rode carefully.
Turn right and immediately left into Ballan Meredith Road. This is a quiet rural road with generally good surface. Hope for a northerly wind to blow you on to Meredith.
Enjoy the tranquil rural farm environment and make sure you give the locals a wave.
Keep the fluids and food intake going as like all rides, things will get harder.
Approaching the steep descent into the Moorabool River Valley. Take care as road is narrow and somewhat rough. Note the old gold diggings across the valley.
A good place for a stop. Usually quiet and serene. If hot, take a wash in the stream.
Prepare for a long climb out of the valley.
A good ride on good road into Meredith.
On to Midland Highway which can be busy. Main road from Ballarat to Geelong. Shop and toilets ahead.

Turn right in to Staughton Street and head West along Meredith Mount Mercer Road.
Turn left on to Shelford Meredith Road. A quiet road with good surface and a chance to enjoy some interesting scenery.
Turn right to head for Shelford.
Toilets on right in park area. Turn left in to Inverleigh Shelford Road. This is an interesting and scenic route.
Turn right on to Hamilton Highway and head for Inverleigh. Shops and toilets here.
Take a break if needed. Resume riding East along the highway. Take care as this is the main route from Hamilton to Geelong.
Some good hill riding commences but it gets even better later.
Turn right in to Pollocksford Road and prepare for some good and strenuous hill riding.
Turn left in to Barrabool Road.
Right turn in to Hendy Main Road.
Cross the Princes Highway with care.
The smell of the ocean is not far away.
Cross the Anglesea Road in to Coombes Road.
Turn right in to Messmate Road and then in to Grossmans Road. Almost there!
Traffic lights at Surf Coast highway intersection. A busy road generally.
Turn right in to The Esplanade. Smell the salt air and prepare for end of ride with drink and nibbles from one of many cafes.
End of ride. Shops, toilets, cafes and eating places nearby, not to mention a dip in the surf!
