The way points of this bicycle route:
Short climbs uphill and then downhill to Bostock Reservoir. Road narrows but usually quiet.
Road climbs gently approaching Gordon Recreation Reserve. Good surface.
Nearing Recreation Reserve with steeper climb. Using lower gears .Keep cadence up.
Short, flatter section and then climb to Post Office and Gordon Pub and General Store (food/drink available).
Turn right at Pub for a climb towards Western freeway.
Head towards Wallace along Butter factory Road. Good road, usually quiet. Downhill with a short climb. Watch crossroads.
Turn right heading North over freeway. Very good road.
Turn left to cycle past Catholic Church and School. A good road heading west to Ballarat. Again, take care at crossroads.
A fast downhill run to Brown Hill. Good surface but watch for fallen rocks/stones through cutting and intersections at Western freeway area.
Turn right into Humffray Street. Shop for food/drink here.
Turn right into Stawell Street and for a steep climb up Chishol Street.
Take care along Howitt Street as this is a busy road. Surface good.
Traffic lights at Creswick Road.
Turn left with care into Gillies Street. Busy intersection.
Left turn into Carlton Street and left again into Wendouree Parade for a lap of the lake.
End of ride. Food/drink at cafes etc. around lake or at Wendouree/Ballarat.
