BE-SPON 30May2010-Jacana to Craigieburn & Return via Hume Freeway Path
The plan was to meet at the Jack Roper Reserve (off Camp Road) at 1000 hours. Two members were in attendance, Alan as the Ride Leader/Chief Navigator, and Ken. Around 1020 we headed off towards the Jacana Railway Station, and met with Isaac who was on his way to the Jack Roper Reserve after utilising the Metro train service to Jacana. The three of us then rode the pathways right through to the Craigieburn Shopping Centre. The only exciting issue was when Ken had a puncture, after passing through one of the below road culverts, where our youths had had a fine time breaking glass bottles. Two patches and grease covered hands later, we continued onwards to the Craigieburn stop. The return journey was uneventful. Once Ken and Alan reached the turnoff to the Merri Creek Trail, we went along the trail to sight the bridgework that was underway, to provide a shared pathway that will (hopefully) not be impacted on when the Merri Creek floods from time to time. The ride completed at 1620 hours local.by kdsmith
