Ayer-Brookline Loop
Start/End point is the parking lot for the Nashua River Rail Trail in Ayer Ctr. This is a rural route with very few places to fuel up, and you'll have to be creative for nature breaks. The Brookline Village Store at about the halfway point has food and drinks, but no restroom facilities. I rode this route one day while I was out exploring the area. It is now one of my favorite rides, and a great workout depending on how hard you want to go. The hills are long, but generally not steep, and there are lots of places to sprint. My method is to use the big chainring for some of the hills, and sprint on all the flats, going all out on Bishop Road near the end. The roads are in very good to excellent condition for the entire ride. Most of the route has very light traffic (on weekends anyway), save for the times when it runs along Rte 111 in spots. by MFD32
