Riding through Fermi is very smooth and serene. You shouldn't see any/many cars at all (assuming a morning ride on the weekend, anyway).
You can stay on the road, but it's kind of busy. There's a fairly wide bike path on the right side of the road that's perfectly rideable.
Hit this for a fast and furious sprint. It can be a bit busy too.
