The way points of this bicycle route:
Notional start point - Moonee Ponds Creek trail.
Pass under road bridge.
Ride along shared path across S side of bridge.
Turn right and head up the shared ramp towards Flemington Bridge Station. You will be heading up a moderately steep ramp, not on the parallel Moonee Ponds Crk trail.
10m before the station entrance, do a 180 degree turn (towards the NE) to the entrance leading onto the walk/bike bridge across Flemington Rd.
Cross Manningham St with caution. Stairs on the other side so you'll have to dismount.
Mount up and head uphill parallel to Upfield Railway Line. Keep an eye out for wildlife!
Turn right onto road (no bike lane but only for 50m), over rail crossing, then left onto path in front of Royal Park Station. Head uphill (east).
take the right branch here heading down under the underpass. Watch for idiot cyclists hooning downhill from the left branch - visibility poor. Pass two underpasses then right when you hit Bowen Cres.
watch for loose dogs around here
Turn right on Bowen Cres., watching for cars. Bike lane available from here.
Bike lane available here, facing oncoming traffic but quite safe.
Cross at the more easterly traffic lights onto the traffic island then across to the footpath in front of university colleges. Turn left then enter driveway about 50m along which cuts into university.
Cut down driveway between colleges, then skirt around oval on the left side. Alternatively, ride around College Cres and along footpath down Swanston St.
Pass between tennis courts and sports centre and through garage bay area (watch for any activities here). Caution exiting onto Tin Alley - watch for cars.
Turn right out of Tin Alley into Swanston St. The metal detector at the university exit is sensitive enough to pick up my bike. Alternatively, cross at pedestrian lights.
