Arlington Ctr to Kendall Sqr; No Mass Ave

The way points of this bicycle route:

Arlington

Begin in Arlington at the Bike Path near Carbarry's.

Bike Path is clear for much of the year, be carefull in the winter, even when clear you may find black ice!

Stop and take care crossing Lake Street.

Many pedestrians in the morning; use your bell.

Cambridge

Alewife T Station. Lock your bike at the large bike rack if you want to take the subway. Or take a left onto the road.

Right back onto path. Follow path around corner & under bridge.

Go straight at the 4-way path intersection. You will pass between the Football field & the Concession Stand.

End of path; Right onto Clifton.

Left at light onto Rindge. Rindge is narrow & busy, take the lane.

Right onto Sherman.

At grade Railroad Crossing.

Sherman gets narrower here. Take the lane. Traffic tends to be slow in the morning because of the light at Walden St. Bikes can typically keep pace with traffic.

Veer left onto Garden Street at light. Garden is a busier street, but fairly wide and downhill.

Left onto Chauncy. Immediately before large brick building. Go straight for Harvard Common.

Bike lane on Chauncy, but it is rough and many double parkers, so take lane if you need it.

Cross Mass Ave

Right onto Oxford

Left at end of Oxford onto walkway.

Cross Harvard Plaza over Cambridge St. Many pedestrians and bikes, ride slowly.

Work left to brick walk, carefull of pedestrians. Ride strait through Harvard University to get to Harvard Sqr.

Left onto Quincy Street; Quincy is oneway with a bike path.

Left onto Harvard St. Harvard is fairly quiet and calm street.

Go Straight for Kendall Sqr. Take a left at Fayette St for Inman Sqr.

Go Straight for Kendall Sqr. Take a right on Inman St for Central Sqr.

Cross Prospect and Harvard becomes one-way and you get your own bike lane; very nice.

Right onto Portland St.

Left at light onto Main St.

Main St has a bike lane all the way into Kendall Sqr.

You are entering Kendall Sqr. Take any right for MIT.

Kendall Sqr T Stop.

To continue into Boston go strait ahead and cross the Longfellow Bridge, which has bike lanes now.
