The way points of this bicycle route:
Stafford Leisure Centre.
Follow the ramp down to the river.
Turn right along the river under the road bridge. This section will soon be upgraded.
Take the ramp up to Fairway and follow the Hospital cycle route signs through Littleworth.
The route switches to the pavement along the busy Weston Rd. It is shared across the bus stops.
Take the tocan across Weston Rd.
There is a Local Nature Reserve at the bottom of the hill (http://www.staffordbc.gov.uk/live/cme5985.htp)
Folow the Beaconside Cycle Route along the pavement.
Turn left onto Sandon Rd
Take the Toucan and then go through The Haybarn
Join the Isabel Trail. This disused railway is ideal for cycling. It is named after an old steam engine manufactured in Stafford, which stood outside the station for many years.
Astonfields Local Nature Reserve. This is an excellent birdwatching location (http://www.staffordbc.gov.uk/live/cme4754.htm)
Old Station. Localy extracted salt used to be loaded on to trains here.
Doxey Marshes is a National Nature Reserve and another excellent place for birdwatching. (http://www.staffordshirewildlife.org.uk/reservedetails.asp?ses=&pl=false&rsid=117)
Cross Sainsbury's car park turning right at the mini roundabout.
Use the toucan to cross Doxey Rd.
Follow the new cycle route through Victoria Park
Caution: Low Head Room!
At present this section is still on road but a cycle route is coming soon.
Go straight across the traffic lights onto South Walls or use the pedestrian crossing.
Turn right past the Civic Centre and head back to the river via the car park.
Rejoin the Riverside Cycle Path.
Swans often nest here.
Take the raised section for a short way.
Now head back up the ramp to the Stafford Leisure Centre.
