Take it north to JFK
Continue all the way to Vilona on JFK/Sylvan Hills Hwy/Hwy 107
Continue north on Hwy 107
Get a sandwich at the country store just south of Hwy 64 or along 64. Proceed north on Naylor Road
At dead end, go 1 block west on Bull Mtn. Road to Hwy 36
North on Hwy 36. This is a "no trucks" road to Rose Bud. No food or services.
No food or drink here
Go west on Hwy 124 or go into Rose Bud first if you need food, but there will be food in about 10 miles further. Hwy 124 is narrow and busy for a few miles.
North on Hwy 10
East on Hwy 16
Country store is at this corner. Turn west on Hwy 16.
Camping is available here. Begin climb over Mt. Pryor.
Camp at the Narrows on the west side of the bridge. Hot showers. Great restaurant just over the bridge on the east side. END OF DAY #1.
Continue north and east on Hwy 92 and 225
North on Hwy 225 to Prim
Scenic bridge over the lake. Start climbing to Prim
Nice and friendly country cafe with ice cream about 100 yards to the south from the junction. Not open Sundays but the gas station next door is and has sandwiches. Go west on 263. Rolling hills and open countryside.
North on Hwy 9. No services until the top of the hill outside Mt. View.
Regroup about here at the C-store on the right before going down the long hill into Mt.View.
Check in with the Chamber of Commerce about tent camping. They are at the east side of the town square/Court House. We camped at the Ozark R.V. Park. Several blocks to the north end of town. If dogs are barking when you arrive. Do not stay there. They will bark all night. END OF DAY #2. Several places to eat in town. We ate at the Rainbow Cafe on W.Main St. near the town square for dinner and breakfast and enjoyed it.
West on Ark. 66 to begin Day #3.
Start climbing up the long mountain. Very few people and very scenic.
Eat at the Leslie Cafe and get bread if you'd like at Serendity Farm bakery, both on Main St.
North on Main Street which turns into Baker Road to stay off of Hwy 65 to Marshall.
Pvement ends for about 2-3 miles but the hard-packed dirt is good.
No services, only a couple houses. Turn west on 74 to Marshall.
South on Hwy 27/74 to Marshall
Take Hwy 65 or back streets to get to the north end of town to ask about camping at the Civic Center. It is behind Harp's Grocery and next to the United Methodist Church which does have a sign along the highway. Eat at Daisy Queen or Pizza Hut. Pastry and breakfast at Harp's too.
End of Day #3. Leave town on Hwy 65 north to 333.
Up the mountain. Very scenic.
A post office and store has limited drinks and snacks and sandwich making food but they do not sell sandwiches. No bathroom.
We camped at this great campground on the Illinois Bayou. Pit toilets, water, pavilions and tables. No shower. Cost $10. END OF DAY #4.
Diner here.
Grocery store but no cafe. Continue on Hwy 7 into Russellville.
Eat at the Butcher Boy at the freeway or go into town for What-a-Burger or other food.
PoppaWheelie Bicycle Shop is at about 500 S. Arkansas (Hwy 7).
South on Hwy 7. Flat with more traffic leaving town.
Steakhouse is here.
Go through town. No services until the C-store just past the town at the junction.
C-store, west onHwy 28 a very short distance and then south on Hwy 7 over Ola Mountain to Lake Nimrod.
Picnic area at the summit but no water.
Go south on Hwy 7 about 1/4 mile into the campground. About $14. Hot shower. Camp along the river below the dam. END OF DAY #5.
Continue south on Hwy 7.
Friendly store. Coffee, drinks, snacks, sandwiches. S. Fouche campground is near here.
Nice cafe in town. Milk shakes, good hamburgers, smoked pulled pork sandwiches.
We did not take this, but it should be a short cut to Hot Springs to stay off of Hwy 7 longer.
South on Hwy 7
Turn onto Gulpha Gorge Road to get off of the busy road and avoid the big hill. Very scenic.
Camp here. No hot shower, or go into town. We stayed at the Park Hotel next to the Arlington. It is bicycle friendly.
Go into town on the access road.
West on Convention to Central Ave.and the hotels.
END OF DAY #6. Leave town the next day going north on Hwy 7 It is not too busy leaving town in the morning. Eat in town or have breakfast just before Fountain Valley outside of town at the Three Pines Restaurant.
East on Hwy 5 to Hwy 9 north.
Eat at the Shell Station or Kara's sausages farther east. Both are open 7 days / week.
Store with cold drinks and snacks. Not open Sunday. North on Hwy 9 to Paron. No services.
A store has snacks and drinks. No restroom.
END OF DAY #7. Ride back home or get a shuttle from here. Haystack Cafe is opening at the junction.
