| Warm up over Birker Fell for the major ascent of Hardknott Pass. Ride over Wrynose pass into Ambleside for lunch, then take in Kirkstone Pass via The Struggle and descend into Patterdale. Turning left at the A66 takes you into Keswick, from where you can ride back to Ambleside and Coniston via Grasmere. |

| An entertaining mixture of quiet back roads and rough fell roads. The majority of the climbing is on road or fire road, and the majority of the descents are off road and entertaining. The drop into Nibthwaite is quite steep and technical, you wouldn't want to do it on a hybrid. |
