| Surprisingly low traffic considering the area. River Road has a "bike lane" most of the way out to the intersection with MD 112, though it is really just a wider-than-usual shoulder. Still, it is officially marked as a bike lane so there you go.
Expect some rolling up-and-down. Nothing brutally steep or terribly long but it's best to be in moderately good shape.
Lunch at Bassett's Family restaurant in Poolesville is a good idea. They are cyclist-friendly and on a nice day the outdoor seating on the front porch is nice. |
