| Mid Western Route II: Holland Village - Bukit Timah/Tenth Mile Junction - Kranji - Bukit Timah/Clementi - Ulu Pandan Park Connector | sivasothi | Jan 26th | Singapore > Singapore > Singapore | 52.3km | Recreational, Onroad, Smooth, Basic, Low traffic, Safe, Scenic |
| Recommended for early Sunday or Public Holiday early morning rides only. Bukit Timah road is not safe by late morning for novice riders. And Kranji has busy heavy vehicular traffic even on Saturday mornings. I use this route when I am meeting friends at 10th mile junction. | |||||
| East Coast Park (Fort Road end) to Changi Village | sivasothi | Nov 10th | Singapore > Singapore > Singapore | 20.8km | Not Bike |
| Walking route - parts are inaccurate. | |||||
| Inner Central Loop: Holland Village - Mandai - Bt Batok | sivasothi | Nov 3rd | Singapore > Singapore > Singapore | 39.2km | Recreational, Onroad, Basic |
| Quick morning ride, do it early to avoid heavy traffic even though a lot of the route is in low traffic or wide-laned roads. | |||||
| Holland Village - Changi Village LOOP up via Tampines and return via ECP (weekend ride) | sivasothi | Oct 25th | Singapore > Singapore > Singapore | 71km | Recreational, Onroad, Intermediate, Low traffic, Scenic |
| Neesd lots of tidying up still between ECP and Esplanade. | |||||
| Holland Village to Pandan Mangroves | sivasothi | Aug 21st | Singapore > Singapore > Singapore | 9.5km | Commute, Onroad, Basic, Low traffic |
| Route to one of my mangrove field sites. | |||||
| Changi Village to ECP edge (lame duck ride) | sivasothi | Jul 1st | Singapore > Singapore > Singapore | 12.1km | Recreational, Smooth, Basic, Safe, Scenic |
| A short (2.5 hours two way) and easy route for encouraging leisure cycling by unfamiliar cyclists; entirely along park connectors. The route is approximate ,needs to be further refined in consultation with maps. On the ground its clear though, as it is a well marked park connector. | |||||
| Holland Village to Sengkang | sivasothi | Jul 1st | Singapore > Singapore > Singapore | 24.7km | Commute, Onroad, Basic, Low traffic, Safe |
| I am going to Sengkang this Friday early evening. I will wear a mask! I use my usual route to Tampines Road then use the Serangoon Park Connector to reach Sengkang. The route via Yio Chu Kang and Buangkok Green is 4km shorter. I suspect it is less safe suitable only for weekends. | |||||
| Holland Village to Toa Payoh Central | sivasothi | Jul 1st | Singapore > Singapore > Singapore | 11.8km | Commute, Onroad, Basic, Low traffic, Safe, Scenic |
| I have to get to Toa Payoh Central this Saturday afternoon (27 Jun 2008) for EnviroFest. I prepared this route by using my usual run to MacRitchie then turning into Thomson Road and Toa Payoh Rise to get to Toa Payoh Central. Have not tried the latter part of this route. | |||||
| Holland Village to Changi, early weekend mornings | sivasothi | Jul 1st | Singapore > Singapore > Singapore | 33km | Recreational, Onroad, Basic, Low traffic, Safe, Scenic |
| This is a fast ride only for weekend mornings, starting at 6am. Traffic is light enough for this route to be used safely by leisure cyclists, but only then. | |||||
| Mid Western Loop: Holland Village <-> Kranji Reservoir | sivasothi | Jun 21st | Singapore > Singapore > Singapore | 48.9km | Onroad, Intermediate, High traffic, Unsafe, Urban, Scenic |
| Holland Village to Kranji Reservoir via Jalan Bahar and back via Bukit Timah. Food and drink stops - Sungei Kadut (Kranji) or Hoover Park (Bukit Timah). I ride this route mainly at night or on Sundays. Else there is too much dust and heavy traffic! | |||||
| Serangoon Gardens to NUS Kent Ridge Campus | sivasothi | Jun 15th | Singapore > Singapore > Singapore | 18.2km | Commute, Recreational, Onroad, Intermediate, Low traffic, Safe, Urban |
| This route avoids fast, high traffic roads and opts for detours through green, residential districts and low pedestrian-traffic pavements. It is slightly hilly for a Singapore route. Generally safe except for the last road, North Buona Vista, which is a hazard to a weak urban cyclist. Happily, the overhead bridge at Dover can be used instead. It is only a half-length carry going over. Returning via North Buona Vista is safe, though. | |||||
