This is an alternative to the other route I posted. This does NOT have a ferry crossing and offers fewer hills. Less traffic on this route to except for the part on Loudon County Parkway. Some parts are on hardpack dirt roads.

A long day in the saddle awaits on this route. Two big mountain passes and lots of rolling hills. Take off more than 15 tough miles by staying on 340 after leaving Luray and then take 33 East after leaving Elkton.

This route is full of fun. A ferry crossing at White's Ferry (don't forget to bring $1 cash for bikes) Once in Leesburg, VA get on the W&OD trail and head out to Purcelleville. Then begin the climb up Mt. Weather to the presidents top secret bunker. Then twist your way through some Mtn. Country into the city of Front Royal. Finish the day off with a stay at the Woodward Inn Bed & Breakfast.
