This is the way I go if I'm going between inner north and Kew. Bit longer, and there are a couple of hills, but all on bike paths so no traffic, plus it's quite pretty. Couple of hard spots to find.

This is the direct way along High St with minimum traffic/hills. Only big hill is along Yarra Boulevard, plus gentler ones going along High St to East Kew. I wouldn't go this way going the same way as peak hour traffic, but you're going the opposite way so should be OK.
